Hi! My name is Kayla Chamberlain. I was born and raised in Northern New Jersey, and loved art for as long as I can remember. My family was very supportive of this - the earliest memories I have are of sitting at the kitchen table coloring with my Dad, and my Mom encouraging me to create things. At nine years old, I started to take lessons in oil painting from my Uncle, and continued to love all things art through high school, where I had amazing art teachers. This led me to want to become an art teacher, and I went to college for art education. I then graduated, got married, and taught art in private and public schools for six years. My husband is in the military, so we have moved all around the country: from New England, to North Carolina, to Washington, and now to Miami!
I loved getting tattooed, and always talked with my tattoo artists about how similar it was to other forms of art, and very much enjoyed the artistic process of getting a tattoo. During one of these sessions, one of my artists offered me the opportunity to practice tattooing myself, and I took it! By the time summer rolled around and I was on summer break, I began tattooing at her studio, and I absolutely loved it. I loved it so much I never went back to teaching! I tattooed for about six months in North Carolina, and am so thankful for all of the support I received from the community there, my friends and family, and especially the artist who helped me start tattooing!
We then moved to Spokane, Washington, where I found a fantastic studio to tattoo at. I felt supported and was able to thrive as an artist, and I learned so much from all of the artists who were there. I further developed my style and will forever be grateful for the two years spent there, as well as my amazing clients, friends, and community.
In February of 2026 we moved to Miami. I am super excited to see where this journey has brought us, and to tattoo in this amazing city! Thank you for your support - stay tuned for guest spots and updates as they happen!
