Frequently Asked Questions

  • I specialize in painterly, fineline, botanical, and microrealism tattoos.

  • Fineline tattoos are typically done with a small gauge needle, and have between 1 - 3 needles in the cartridge. In general, as tattoos age in a person’s skin, the ink spreads out, and lines tend to double (over about 10 years). Fineline tattoos tend to soften instead, since there is less ink in the skin, resulting in a more delicate look over time. This may require a touch up, depending on the desired look of the final tattoo.

  • To ensure that I am providing you with the best tattoo possible, there are certain tattoos that I will pass along to another artist who is better suited for it. This includes styles outside of my specializations (ex: traditional, blackwork, geometric). Additionally, I do not tattoo feet, necks, faces, or fingers. I do not offer cover-ups or reworks of other artists’ tattoos.

  • Absolutely! Consultations are always free and a great idea if you are a little unsure about your tattoo, the process, or just want to meet me first! Sometimes it is super helpful to be able to explain what you are looking for in person. If you are interested in a consultation, please fill out a booking form, and include it in the “general description” area. They are not always necessary, but if I feel that it would be best for your tattoo, I might recommend one before we schedule the tattoo appointment (especially if it is a large tattoo). Consultations can be done in-person or through a video chat!

  • There are many factors that go into the cost of your tattoo, such as location, style, size, and subject matter. Once you provide those details in a booking form, I will respond with a general quote about how long the tattoo will take and the general price range. Please feel free to include a budget if you have one, and I will be happy to see if I can work with it!

  • When I provide you with a quote, I will only include how long I think the actual tattooing will take. However, there are many factors that can impact the amount of time that you will actually spend in the studio, such as making any changes on the design, placing the stencil just right, break time, and photos. These are all things that can take time that you will not be charged for, so it will therefore not be included in the quote I provide. So, please allow yourself an extra hour or so of time when scheduling your day for your appointment, so we aren’t rushed, and you can leave with your tattoo exactly how you want it!

  • To protect my work, I generally do not send the design before your appointment. Exceptions to this would be large scale botanical pieces, where I will send you a rough sketch of the design to get feedback on the general flow and placement. On the day of your appointment, you will see the tattoo design. You will have the opportunity to make minor design changes and tweaks to make sure you are 100% happy with the tattoo you will be getting. However, if you request it beforehand, I can send you your design 24 hours before your appointment for some feedback about the design.

  • Yes! In order to book your tattoo, I take a $150 non-refundable deposit. This deposit will come off the total cost of your tattoo, which will be paid once the tattoo is complete. A non-refundable deposit helps to honor my time and the time that will be spent working on designing your tattoo.

  • Currently, I accept Zelle, Venmo, or cash for payment.

  • I completely understand that life happens, and sometimes you need to reschedule due to sickness, an emergency, or a schedule conflict. However, as a tattoo artist, it is often challenging to fill a last minute appointment, and if I don’t work, I don’t get paid! That being said, if you have to reschedule within 48 hours before your appointment, your deposit is forfeited, and you will have to pay another non-refundable deposit to schedule a new appointment. If it is more than 48 hours before your appointment, you are allowed up to two reschedules under the same deposit.

  • It depends! In general, a tattoo feels like a cat is scratching your sunburned skin. However, there are many different factors that go into how much a tattoo will hurt depending on its location, size, and style. A smaller, fine line tattoo on the outside of your arm will not hurt nearly as much as a larger, full color piece on your inner thigh would. Ultimately, everyone’s pain tolerance is different, and how well you prepare for the tattoo (well hydrated, good nutrition, and getting a good night’s sleep before) also can impact how well you sit. I am always open to taking multiple breaks and will do my best so it is a pleasant experience for you!

  • Numbing cream can be tricky, since it’s not really regulated and companies can put too much lidocaine into their products. Yes, it will take the pain of the tattoo away, but certain amounts of lidocaine could lead to permanent nerve damage, or trouble with healing the tattoo. Some numbing creams change the consistency of your skin, making it more challenging to apply the tattoo. If you think you can handle sitting through the tattoo without numbing cream, I would recommend it, because it will take away one more variable in the process. If you think you need to use numbing cream, the only brand that I will tattoo with is Mad Rabbit. Please follow the instructions on the label, and notify me that you would like to use it.

  • Yes! I offer one free touchup within 6 months of your tattoo appointment. It is completely normal to need a touchup, especially for fineline pieces, so please reach out if you think your tattoo needs one. Healed photos are always welcome!
