The health of your skin can play a huge factor in the tattoo process! Here are some tips to best prepare for your appointment.

Drink plenty of water in the weeks leading to your appointment.

This will help to hydrate your skin, which improves its quality while tattooing.

Moisturize multiple times a day in the weeks leading to your appointment.

This one is incredibly important and often underrated!

Exfoliate your skin.

This will get rid of any dead skin cells and help prep the surface of your skin.

Refrain from alcohol the night before your appointment.

Alcohol will dehydrate you and thin your blood, making for a more challenging session for both of us, and can affect the quality and heal of your tattoo.

Get a good night’s sleep the night before your appointment!

Getting a tattoo is taxing physically, mentally, and emotionally so a good night’s sleep sets you up as best as possible.

Eat a well balanced meal before your appointment.

This gives you energy for your session and ensures that your blood sugar doesn’t drop (which leads to dizziness and fainting) during your tattoo. Please bring water and snacks to your appointment!

Dress comfortably and in layers, and wear clothes that allow easy access to the area being tattooed.

During the tattoo, it's possible for your body to get very hot and very cold, so wearing layers allows you to adjust to this. It is also possible for ink to get on your clothes, so wearing black can be helpful for avoiding stains.
